9.1.1 Procurement is a division of the Financial Services under the control of the Director of Finance. Its aims and objectives are to achieve the highest standards of purchasing performance throughout our University within the framework of the following Mission Statement:
"To become a sought-after centre of excellence in external resource management; to make a significant contribution towards the financial success of our University; and to support it’s endeavours in meeting strategic goals in Teaching and Research."
9.2 STAFFING AND STRUCTURE
9.2.1 The Unit is currently staffed by the Head of Procurement - Colin Reeve, three Procurement Services Managers, Ann Debney, Margaret Meredith and Martina Senft.
9.3 SOUTHERN UNIVERSITIES PURCHASING CONSORTIUM (SUPC)
9.3.1 Our University is a member of the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium. The SUPC represents the interests of approximately 42 HE Institutions. Operational duties are devolved to Commodity Groups to identify opportunities, develop contracts and appoint Recommended Suppliers to achieve VFM improvements through the aggregation of demand.
9.4 COMMUNICATIONS WITH FACULTIES AND SUPPORT SERVICES
9.4.1 Within our University’s devolved purchasing environment, a prerequisite for purchasing success is an effective two way communication link between Procurement, Faculties and Support Services. This must ensure:

188.8.131.52 That facilities exist which encourage Departments to seek advice or assistance, provide feed back on existing contracts, supply commodity information and offer any comments suggestions or criticisms which they consider may improve VFM.
